Lists, Lists, Lists

Nothing says ‘organised’ like a good list. Making note of everything important is a great way to remember and checking it off is even more satisfying! Whether at your desk or on the go, you can try making a hospital bag checklist, baby name list or gift ideas. For example, your hospital bag list may note essential items like nappies, wipes, pyjamas, shower products and food. We have fantastic list pads and planners to choose from that will help you get beautifully organised.

Keep track of dates

During pregnancy, and after your baby arrives, your life is bound to get a whole lot busier. Keep track of all your important dates such as midwife appointments, your baby’s development – and most importantly, your due date! A calendar is a must-have for busy families, and our beautiful Family Calendars even have monthly pockets to store any paperwork and important notes, so you feel on top of it all.

Set a budget

It’s easy to get carried away when baby shopping. Of course, we all want the best for our children, but it is never too early to work out your budget. Knowing exactly what is coming in and going out each month is essential to figure out what you can afford to spend. Analyse your current financial situation and go from there. Why not look at non-essentials, are there things you could do without, like a gym membership or TV subscriptions? Also, try asking other mums what baby items are essential, to save on any unnecessary purchases.

Busy B has a fantastic Budget Book with space to record Income, Direct Debits & Standing Orders, Bills, Spending, and a handy storage pocket for receipts and any other bits and bobs.

Baby proof your home

Once the day comes to bring your baby home from the hospital, you’ll want to make sure that your home is completely prepared. Try baby proofing each room the best you can beforehand: no sharp corners, plenty of floor space, furniture screwed to the wall etc. It’s also worth setting up places for your baby to sleep other than their nursery, so you can keep an eye on your little one whilst going about your day.

Get creative with Pinterest

Pinterest is a visual search engine that allows you to create your own boards full of inspiration and creative ideas using their image ‘pins’. You can use this to visually gather any ideas for things like your baby’s nursery, baby shower, outfits, activities etc. Brilliant!

Take time for you

Whilst a lot of your organising will be surrounding your little one, it’s important to look after yourself as well. Make sure to take time to yourself and do the things that relax you, like a bath, a long walk, or simply lying on the couch doing absolutely nothing! Life completely changes once your baby is here, so cherish any alone time you have left.
