“I was convinced Kieran was going to ask me on a trip to New York…
I waited until the 2nd last day and it just wasn’t looking likely so I brought it up, he had planned to ask at some point but not on that trip! We decided then just to go for it and to celebrate we moved out of our youth hostel and booked a nice hotel for the night. Instead of an engagement ring we got a red flashing plastic love heart ring (I still have it and it still flashes 15 years on!) The only problem was that because my ring was a novelty one everyone thought we were making it all up when we got home to Scotland!”
“We were away for the weekend when he proposed…
It was a beautiful day and we were at Chatsworth House in the Peak District. He got down on one knee and held out the ring. I was so surprised I said ‘thank you’ instead of ‘yes’!”
