We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and commercially minded Sourcing and Logistics Manager to join our talented and highly collaborative team. With sales of £3m via high street multiples such as John Lewis and Waterstones, and Amazon, we are looking for someone special to join our senior team and help shape the next phase of growth.

- Full time, salary based on previous experience

- Based in central Edinburgh office (hybrid working week - 2 office days currently)

- This role reports to the Operations Director and has one direct report - Sourcing assistant

Job description:

This is a key senior role which will suit a team player who is approachable, calm, efficient, and organised and has a proven track record with 5 or more years of experience in a similar role. 

A good understanding of manufacturing and print processes in the Far East and the ability to build excellent supplier relationships is essential. You will manage all freight and shipping logistics, forward planning effectively and communicating well with all stakeholders.  You will play an important role in the company’s productivity and ultimate profitability with the management of lead times, cost controls and shipping efficiencies. Awareness of cost drivers and the impact on gross margin is key. 

You will enjoy collaborating with the product team to deliver seasonal ranges; working closely with existing suppliers and sourcing new ones to achieve high product quality and beautiful finishing, achieving cost efficiencies without compromising quality.

 The Main Responsibilities are:

- Responsibility for the Busy B sourcing strategy and supply routes, continually monitoring performance and making changes as required 

- Consideration should also be given to dual sourcing from both Asia and Europe in order to achieve business objectives 

- Work closely with and support the Sourcing Assistant and manage workload and priorities

- Work with the Product Manager on new product specifications, recommending changes to improve costs, ensuring quality and achieve seasonal efficiencies ie book blocks 

- Negotiate pricing for all products in line with the agreed seasonal target, continually monitoring ROE

- Build Quotation Tracker with Sales commitments 

- Work closely with product manager and key acct managers following key critical path dates 

- Check and authorise PO’s raised by Sourcing assistant 

- Prepare and issue Specifications to suppliers for both current and new products

- Responsible for arranging all product samples and reviewing with Product Manager 

- Manage retailer specific requirements for product packaging and labelling

- Maintain the Companies FSC Certification - preparing for the annual audit and managing any future standards as required.

- Maintain supplier SEDEX records as required  

- Responsible for import freight strategy, determining container build and consolidation to save costs. Minimise LCL and AF costs 

- Closely monitor courier costs, tracking against budget

- Regularly issue the PO Tracker, identifying any shipping issues.

- Work on Brexit logistics and overseas shipping as required 

- Undertake travel as required to visit suppliers and trade shows  

- Attend managers meeting and prepare report as required 


Key Skills & Attributes:

- Ideally 5 years experience in a similar role

- Driven and commercially astute with good analytical skills

- Calm under pressure - with proven ability to deliver on projects in a tight time frame

- Experienced in sourcing and in End to End Supply Chain from the Far East (and Europe ideally)

- Knowledge of manufacturing processes for paper based products

- Proven ability to build strong stakeholder relationships

- Collaborative style with excellent communication skills

- Approachable and friendly with a positive, can-do approach

- Highly organised with great attention to detail and excellent time management

- Strong Negotiation and problem solving abilities - Challenging the status quo and seeking out new and improved opportunities

- Competent in MS system (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc)

- Working knowledge of ERP systems
