Busy B has an exciting opportunity for a capable and commercially minded Key Account Manager with a vibrant, likeable personality to join their talented and highly collaborative team. 

- Full time, salary based on previous experience

- Based in central Edinburgh office (hybrid working week – currently 2 office days)

- This role reports to the Operations Director

Job description:

 

The Key Account Manager is an important role in our business and an ambassador for the brand and the product ranges.  Having fantastic market awareness alongside drive and passion are a must in this role. You will be curious and relationship focused with a proven ability to spot and act on opportunities and have the hunger, tenacity and skill to seek and win new business.  Developing Account plans and delivering them is key to the role alongside presenting new ranges and influencing buying decisions each season.   Busy B are also keen to grow export sales and build on their current mix of retailers and distributors abroad.  

A background in selling consumer products and working with high street multiples is an advantage. It is essential that the successful candidate is a logical thinker, who pays attention to detail and is highly organised and proactive in their approach. This role forms a key link from your customers into design on product development to ensure ranges align to customer requirements. We are seeking a candidate who can form excellent long-lasting relationships that are mutually beneficial. Some of our current Key Accounts are; John Lewis, Lakeland, WH Smith, Waterstones and Dobbies.

 

 

The Key Responsibilities are:

 

Key Account Management 

- Developing short/medium term sales strategy for your Key Accounts detailing financials, objectives, opportunities, key activities and promotions required to deliver the sales and margin targets.

- Forming successful key customers relationships - demonstrating passion and enthusiasm for the product ranges.

- Gaining good understanding of the retailers business, potential threats and opportunities to grow sales.

- Setting up and meeting buyers to present and influence their buying decisions and close sales.

- Preparation of range presentations as required.

- Responsible for monitoring sales performance against targets and reporting back to the Operations Manager.

- Processing orders for key accounts as required.

 

New Business

- Responsible for identifying and generating new business from High Street Multiples

- Gathering and assessing prospects and developing a new business targeting strategy

- Presenting product concepts and mock ups to new customers.

- Negotiating margins and promotions and closing sales.

- Responsible for monitoring sales performance against targets and reporting back to the Operations Manager.

 

Export

- Responsible for managing existing relationships and sales – with retailers and distributors.

- Responsible generating new export business -gathering and assessing prospects and developing a new business targeting strategy

- Presenting product concepts and mock-ups to new customers, negotiating margins and closing sales.

- Responsible for monitoring sales performance against targets and reporting back to the Operations Manager.

- Some international travel to attend Trade Fairs and visit Distributors

 

Administration, Trade Marketing and Customer Service

- Responsible for raising all key account orders on our system and actioning them ensuring they are delivered to the customer (via our third party warehouse) in a timely manner.

- Management and reporting duties associated with managing our Agents. Ensuring they have all the presentations and samples they require in good time.

- Responsible for creating bi-annual Trade Catalogue, working alongside our design dept and an external printer.

- Inputting into trade marketing emails, working with Digital Marketing Exec as required.

- Assisting with other customer service duties as required.

 

Key Skills & Attributes

- 3 years + key account management experience, preferably in the gift industry or stationery market

- Ideally involved in developing, marketing and selling consumer products

- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and developing opportunities with key accounts

- Proven ability to develop successful relationships – with high street retail accounts (such as Lakeland, John Lewis, Waterstones) and in house with colleagues.

- Proven ability to create and implement sales action plans and strategic account plans

- Track record in seeking out and achieving sales targets with new business

- Proactive with passion, energy and drive and a hunger to succeed and deliver results

- Can generate good ideas and thrive in a collaborative cross-functional team environment

- A positive can-do attitude, willing to roll sleeves up and do what’s needed

- Excellent presentation and influencing skills

- Skilled in assessing and deciding priorities, able to multi task and meet deadlines

- Professional in all communication with excellent attention to detail

- Good numeracy and negotiation skills (setting sales targets, determining margins and negotiating prices)

- Great organisational ability, project management and administrative skills

- Happy to travel / drive to various sales meetings in the UK and attend Trade Shows when required

- Competent in Microsoft packages : Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc

- Experience using a CRM/ERP system such as Netsuite (or similar)
