With the launch of our best-selling Mid-year Diary, we’re taking you behind the scenes with a blast from the past to the very first diary we ever made.
“The idea for the Busy Life Diary came from frustration (my own and some of my friends) as we were all juggling work and home life and squeezing scribbled notes or even post it notes into our diaries about the kids activities and it was all getting muddled up next to work stuff. So the solution of a double page schedule to view work life and home life separately seemed like the perfect solution.”
“Around the same time we had a focus group in our office. We invited lots of busy women we knew and asked to see their diaries, everyone pulled them out of their bags and they were all stuffed with bits of paper, receipts, business cards, appointment cards etc. They all complained about how messy it was yet how necessary it was to keep all the loose bits in their diary and close at hand….and so the need for several pockets in our Diary was obvious too!”
“We did an original Busy Life Diary in 2009, which was £12.99, it was bigger and had a pocket every month (rather bulky overall) but we didn’t sell that many at the time. However, the following year we had absolutely tonnes of customers call us to say they loved using the 2009 Busy Life Diary and were disappointed we weren’t doing a 2010 version.”
Interesting Fact!
Unknown to us while choosing our new brand name, on the cover of the very first diary we made was the line: “For busy bees at work & home”.
“So, after our sales team pestered the product team (for a whole year!), they agreed to try it again for 2011. With an updated and improved design, it was smaller and more compact with fewer pockets and this time retailed at £9.99. Hey presto a best seller was born! This version is loved by many busy women who come back year after year for a new one.”
