TOP TIPS FOR KEEPING FIT AND HEALTHY THIS SUMMER

Our latest guest blogger is Amy from our Sales team! Amy is also a health and wellbeing blogger, and today she’s sharing her top tips on keeping fit and healthy this summer.

Having an amazing beach body is what we all strive for after the Christmas pig out. Sun, sea and sand only means one thing … SUMMER IS HERE. With it comes holidays, BBQ’s, chilling in the park, not to mention all the ice cream. The last thing you want is to ruin all the hard work you’ve put in getting summer ready, so I thought I’d share my top tips on how to keep in shape during the summer months.

1. Take it Outdoors
I’m sure you’ll agree with me that when the sun’s shining the last place you want to be stuck in is the gym. So instead of ditching your workout completely, why not put your trainers on and take it outdoors?

There are some great boot camps to get involved in or why not try a HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) session in the park? If you’d prefer not to become a hot sweaty mess then why not go for a walk instead. Either way, you can keep active and soak up some vitamin D at the same time.

2. Eat Well
The saying goes “no carbs before Marbs” but you shouldn’t fear carbs, in fact they’re great for fuelling your body and helping you recover after a workout! Too many people complicate things by going on fad diets, when in reality eating well and exercising is what really works. Meal prepping is key! Not only will it help you stay on track, it will also stop your hand grabbing junk food when you’re hungry. Dieting doesn’t have to be boring and recipe books are great for mixing things up a little. I love using my Busy B Page Markers to mark recipes I want to try out and the List Pad for meal planning and writing shopping lists but you could try the Busy B Meal Planner too.

3. Create Achievable Goals
Admit it, we would all love washboard abs and I’m sorry to burst your bubble but realistically you aren’t going to achieve these in two weeks. What I will say though is, there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a long-term goal, but I would also suggest having smaller goals that are more achievable in a shorter time frame. Having over-ambitious goals only means you’re likely to throw the towel in when you don’t achieve them, so start small and aim high!

4. Get Fit with a Friend
Having a training partner is a great motivator and will encourage you to keep fit. Not only are you less likely to cancel (who wants to be known as the friend that bails?) it will also make your workouts more fun and you’ll work harder. Just make sure you don’t spend the whole time gossiping or checking social media and not doing any exercise.

5. Stay Hydrated
I don’t want to sound like your mum, but staying hydrated, especially during the summer months, is so important. The next time you go to grab a fizzy drink, why not opt for some fruit infused water instead?

6. Get Enough Sleep
Making sure you get enough sleep is just as important as training and eating correctly. Whilst asleep your body gets the chance to reset and restore its energy levels, so try aiming for 7-9 hours per night! You’ll wake up the next day feeling refreshed and ready to go!

7. Consistency is Key
You can achieve anything you put your mind to and unfortunately there is no magic pill when it comes to fitness. Just like anything, if you’re prepared to put the work in you’ll reap the rewards, so even when you don’t feel like training drag yourself off the couch and go workout! It will be worth it, trust me!
